Inaugural Meeting  – February 9th, 5:00-6:30pm, The Stable at The Barn.  The UC Riverside Campus Community, the Council on Intellectual Values and Inclusive Community (CIVIC), held its first meeting Thursday evening, February 9th, 2023 with 20 attending in person or online.  Another 12 have expressed interest but could not attend because of travel or prior obligations.  These numbers exceeded our expectations.  Colleagues from Art, Art History, Comparative Literature, History, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Policy, and Sociology attended.  In the meeting, we discussed participants’ experiences with the culture of discourse on campus, campus practices we would like to address, and spring programming ideas.  The discussion was lively and informative.  Many said they appreciated the sense of community the group offered.  Our next meeting will be held in early March.
